WINDHOEK – In need of delicious traditional meal, name it and Otjikaendu Den will serve you.  Starting with their main meal o f a “smiley”, a well cooked goat head offered in a homely atmosphere.

Situated in Wanaheda’s Luxury Hill, corner of Antiochie and Ceasar streets, the Otjikaendu eatery saw the need for smiley as delicacy around Windhoek and decided to serve you with their special and own recipe. Milba Tjahere did not see herself operating in other area of the country, so she decided to stay in her own community and offer her service to people there. She felt the need to operate a restaurant that sell traditional food and decided to serve different traditional foods. She named her place, Otjikaendu, which means  a big woman, “one should be strong and catch the business as a big woman,” she explains further.

The Otjikaendu does not have a set up menu, as they sell different type of traditional  foods, Omatangara, “smiley” Goat head, “Otjiuru tjongombe” cow head, Omboua (Spinach), “Oruhere” Maize Meal,  and Ohauhau” smashed meat, just to mention a few as  Ojtikaendu offers it all.

Tjihare says the unique and delicious “smiley” attract tourists too, “so at Otjikaendu you Come with a smile, leave with a smiley,” assures she.

Wilson Billawer a regular customer at Otjikaendu says he goes there when he is in need of a traditional meal, and he has never been disappointed. “Their Smiley and Omatangara are the best in town and they are the reason I visit now and then. If you are in need of a well prepared traditional meal, Otjikaendu is the place to go,” says Billawer.
