With the transfer order made in October last year, two teenagers (18) accused of killing and mutilating a man in 2024, are expected to make their first court appearance in the Windhoek High Court in January.
Elias Namwandi Nandomba and Mervin Jay-z Beukes were arrested in 2024 after the body of Christoph Frederick (30) was found in a riverbed in the informal settlement of Otjomuise’s 7de Laan.
They stood accused in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder, obstruction of justice and violating a corpse.
The charges were in connection with the murder of Frederick, whose body was discovered after being reported missing, with 32 stab wounds and his private parts cut off in Otjomuise.
The crime, which sent shockwaves across the queer community, was described as a hate crime, as Fredericks was allegedly a member of the LGBTQ+ community and identified as a woman.
Two other individuals were later arrested after being implicated for allegedly obstructing the course of justice, one being the sister of Elias, Tashiya Olivia Nandomba.
Tashiya was arrested for allegedly concealing evidence by getting rid of the bloody clothes her brother was wearing during the commission of the crime.
Another is Joslin Booysen, but the case against the two of them was withdrawn in the magistrate court because the prosecution declined to prosecute them.
According to the police report, Fredericks’ body was discovered by a passerby in a riverbed next to the Chairman Mao Zendong High School in Otjomuise.
The matter will be in the High Court on 21 January 2026. The accused remains in custody.
