Outapi council members re-elected

Home National Outapi council members re-elected

ONGWEDIVA – Outapi Mayor Matheus Ndeshitila was re-elected to serve in that position and as chairperson of the town council on Tuesday.

All the other members with the exception of Albertina Mungandjela who had resigned from the council were re-elected. They were sworn in on Tuesday at a ceremony presided over by magistrate Liwena Mikiti.

Johanna Haindongo retained her position as deputy mayor, while Simeon Kavila continues as chairperson of the management committee.

Reinhold Angala was re-elected as deputy chairperson while Genorosa Andowa retained his position on the management committee. Matheus Endjala retained his position as a member of council.

Ignatius Mengela replaced Albertina Mungandjela who resigned as a member of council.

All seven council members represent Swapo Party.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony the mayor Ndeshitila said during their tenure the council has done overwhelmingly well to address some of the town’s challenges.

In the 2014/15 financial year, the council will construct open markets at Anamulenge, tar Mwaala Nashilongo Street, and build road culverts and storm water channels at Extension Four.

In addition, the council will create an additional extension, which will be earmarked for mass housing; have houses built by Camelthon Business Venture and a University of Urban Planning and Architecture.
