Outgoing Goagoses reflects on key achievements

Outgoing Goagoses reflects on key achievements

Outgoing president of Netball Namibia (NN) Rebekka Goagoses has highlighted several key achievements during her tenure, with the most significant being the acquisition of two sprung floors for the national netball courts, made possible through the Directorate of Sports.

This milestone represents a substantial improvement in the country’s netball infrastructure, and ensures a higher standard for the sport’s development.

In her statement, Goagoses also emphasised her role in advancing the professionalisation of netball in Namibia. One of the major strides taken under her leadership was securing funding to employ three additional staff members, including the crucial position of secretary general, to strengthen the operational capacity of NN.

She said these efforts are part of a broader push to enhance the governance and management of the sport.

Another key achievement is the revitalising of regional netball structures. Goagoses was particularly proud of the increase in the number of regions actively participating in netball, which has helped to foster a wider base of talent and interest in the sport across the country.

“In my reign, I believe I drew netball enthusiasts back to court with the slogan #fallinlovewithnetball,” she added.

She also spoke about the renewed partnerships with corporate sponsors Debmarine and MTC, who have committed to extending support for NN for three more years. These sponsorships are vital for the continued growth of the sport and its prospects.

Goagoses, who was elected as president in 2022, has a long history of service to the organisation, having held various leadership roles before being appointed to the presidency, from public relations officer to vice president for sponsorship and marketing.
