Over 70 turn up for Seawork Cares Beach Series …organisers surprised by strong turnout

Over 70 turn up for Seawork Cares Beach Series …organisers surprised by strong turnout

The inaugural Seawork Cares Beach Series, hosted by Olympic swimmer Phillip Seidler, attracted an impressive crowd of over 70 participants.

Seidler and his brother Daniel Seidler, founders of Teamflippy Sport and Events, created the initiative to develop the sport in Namibia by providing a platform for athletes to compete while fostering community engagement and corporate partnerships.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Seidler expressed excitement at the unexpected turnout.

“We were surprised by the number of participants who showed up. The event was a huge success, with 74 people swimming, running and walking. It was a day full of smiles, great vibes and unforgettable memories. This turnout proves that when we come together as a community and nation, we can achieve so much,” he said. Looking ahead, Seidler expects the series to grow, with the next event scheduled for 15 March.

He encouraged the community to participate.

“Now, we’re gearing up for Round 2. We would love for everyone to be part of it. Whether you’re a swimmer, runner or walker, there’s something for you – 2 kilometres (km), 1km, 500 metres (m) and 50m swims as well as 2km and 5km runs/walks. The first 60 entries will receive some fantastic free merchandise,” he added.

Seidler hopes to attract participants from other coastal towns and nearby areas.

“Expect a day filled with fun, energy and community spirit, featuring great music, the best master of ceremony, tasty Two Beards Coffee and delicious food to keep everyone fuelled for the activities,” he said.

“This event is all about staying active, having fun, and bringing our incredible community together. Whether you’re returning for another round or joining us for the first time, we can’t wait to see you there,” he stated.
