WINDHOEK – At least 8 000 concertgoers on Saturday attended the three-hour show by Nigerian-born sensational R&B singers Peter and Paul Okoye at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek.
Some of the fans of P-Square travelled from South Africa and France, while others travelled to Windhoek from Oshakati and Katima Mulilo.
The show by Peter and Paul Okoye, better known as P-Square, was almost cancelled but salvaged at the last minute because of a policy that restricted travel from countries from West Africa hit by Ebola.
The show was salvaged after behind-the-scenes negotiations involving the Prime Minister Dr Hage Geingob and the Ministry of Home Affairs following a cabinet decision.
The gates opened at 16h00 and P-Square supported by various local artistes started performing at 22h00 until 01h00.
P-Square headlined the show described as one of the best shows ever hosted in Namibia according to the majority of people who attended the show.
The duo did not disappoint as they gave top class live performances with their captivating dance moves and immense vocal skills leaving the crowd asking for more.
The crowd sang along in an enjoyable recall as the group did a mix of the classic old hit singles such as “I love you,” “Temptation,” and “No one like you,” as well as recent singles such as “Chop my money,” “Personally,” and their latest hit single “Ejeajo” from their latest album titled “Double Trouble.”
The song “Testimony” also known as “Taste the money” had women go wild as they started undressing and showing off their toned bodies while mid-performance the duo threw their shirts as well as their new albums into the crowd causing chaos.
Both men and women engaged in a tug-of-war to own memorable souvenirs of the twin superstars.
The Dogg, Gazza, Swart Baster, Mushe,TKB and Oteya were the opening acts and the local artistes did their job well as they got the crowd excited while performing a fusion of old and new tracks.
It was also great to see Namibians and foreigners singing the Namibian national anthem in complete harmony. The organizers definitely knocked this show out and 27 September is definitely a date to be marked in Namibian musical history.
