WINDHOEK – The Khomas Regional Paralympic Association (KRPA) hosted it regional trials in Windhoek recently with clubs bringing their athletes to the event, which attracted a total number of 110 sportspersons.

The gathering was the first ever Paralympic athletics trials held in the Khomas Region. The newly formed KRPA was tasked to select 21 athletes to represent Khomas at the upcoming national championships in Windhoek from October 30 to November 2, 2014. For this reason, the KRPA organized the first ever Paralympic athletics trials in the region. Athletes from the clubs Wheeler-Ability Sport Club, Namib Lions Athletic Club, Flamingo Sport Club, Schools and Institution Sport Club, the Service Center for the Visually Impaired Sport Club and Unam Sport Club for people with disability were presented. Support came from Erongomed, who sponsored ample water for all athletes and officials, and from Kommerci Trading who sponsored the food and drink for all athletes as well as officials, worth N$2 400. After a successful event the following athletes were selected to represent Khomas for the upcoming National Paralympic Championships:

10. Elias Ndimulunde (T46 sprinter)
11. Cobie Bok (T45 sprinter)
12. Simson Kariseb (T47 sprinter and long jumper)
13. Beda Shikatu (T12 long jump)
14. Mitch Dewaart (T54 wheelchair racing)
15. Josephina lazarus (F11 shot put)
16. Brickite Noses (F12 shot put)
17. Gideon Ndaluka (T54 wheelchair racing and F58 shot put)
18. Teofelus David (F44 field event)
19. Peyavi tjaverua (F42 field event)
