WINDHOEK – The under-18 rider won the senior men’s 100km race in a time of two hours 53 minutes 11 seconds, with Loto Petrus coming in second and the 2012 winner, Drobisch following one second behind.

Tjipe Murangi and Denzil ‘Junior’ de Koe finished fourth and fifth. The race took place in sunny, but windy conditions, which made it tough for the cyclists, but Marggraff paid tribute to his team members Murangi and De Koe for their hard work.
“The race was very hard and already from Matchless Mine up on the Daan Viljoen Road it was very tough. But I have to thank my team mates Tjipe and Junior who worked very well for me,” he said.
“It’s a great honour for me to win this race. I tried very hard the last two weeks at the Windhoek Pedal Power races but it didn’t work out, but today everything worked out fine so I’m very happy,” he added.
Second-placed Loto Petrus said he was disappointed at not winning the race. “I’m not really happy because I always try and race for first place. But as long as I keep my sponsors happy it’s OK,” he said.
Michelle Vorster won the women’s 100km race in three hours one minute nine seconds, finishing more than four minutes ahead of Heletje van Staden (3:05:47) while Irene Steyn came third in 3:06:01.
Daniel Villinger won the men’s 65km category in 1:47:01, followed by Martin Sheya (1:47:02) and Israel Alfred (1:47:03), while Hester Prins won the women’s 65km category in 1:48;06, followed by Francie Gerber (1:57:26) and Antje Tietz (1:57:31).
Johannes Uheka won the Men’s 30km category in 57:02, followed by Fuentes Raul (57:08) and Marcel Holz (59:04), while Lee Ann Palmhert won the women’s 30km category in 1:00:06 followed by Tanya Mackensen (1:04:48) and Riana Dreyer (1:06:00).
Undji Mate won the men’s 20km category in 49:12, followed by Nicholis du Plessis (49:30) and Frans Antonie Gerber (49:32), while Maxine Holz won the women’s 20km category in 49:15, followed by Anke Janik (51:51) and Hilke Kurger (52:06).
A total of 643 cyclists successfully completed the 2014 Namibian Pick n Pay Cycle Classic. Peters wins MTB Classic. On Saturday, Herbert Peters comfortably won The Namibian Mountain Bike Cycle Classic over 55km.
The Under 16 rider won the senior men’s category in a time of one hour 58 minutes 40 seconds, to finish more than three minutes ahead of Tjipee Murangi who came second in 2:01:57.
Martin Freyer came third in 2:02:29, while Heino Windisch and Fanie Steenkamp were in joint fourth in 2:02:31. Johanita de Waal won the women’s category over 55km in 2:24:13, followed by Antje Tietz (2:29:37) and Hester Prins (2:32:35).
Charl Fouche won the 30km category for men in 1:25:37, followed by Des Doman (1:27:51) and Roderick Vries (1:28:57), while Susanna Borg pipped Ulande Viljoen to the line in the women’s 30km category.
They both crossed the line in 1:32:59, while Barbara Ackermann came third in 1:34:53. Riaan Compaan won the men’s 20km category in 52:51, while Luke Brinkmann came second in 52:52 and Johan Lepen third in 53:45.
Daleen Steyn won the women’s 20km category in 57:40, with Silke Bean coming second in 58:17 and Elfrieda Kirsten third in 1:00:06. A total of 296 riders completed the various mountain bike categories.
