Permit me to think out loud

Home Columns Permit me to think out loud

RUNDU – Greetings folks I’m back once again to say eewa! I hope you’re are all fine despite the heated debate on the constitutional amendment.

Well, I shall not engage in this debate lest our future president should could think I’m also a politician who never made it like how he described the civil society organizations who are against the amendment of the constitution, LOL.

I am sure many know the danger that alcohol exacts on an unborn child and this comes to the way I feel about selling alcohol to pregnant women.

The law says alcohol should not be sold to those under the age of 18 but pregnant women are welcome to endanger their unborn babies who put their unborn babies in danger by imbibing.

We all know alcohol causes serious damage to the unborn baby’s brain – the child will be born stunted meaning having major problems later in life, reduced learning abilities and many more; she or he is most likely to be a school dropout and unemployed and that won’t be good for all of us.

I know the mothers are over 18 but we should also think of the unborn future leaders and maybe one day our legislators should look into this issue.  As this will prevent unborn children from getting fed with alcohol by their mothers as we know that the unborn rely on what their mothers take in.

It is only safe for the unborn to develop healthily without being affected by alcohol and that will enable their body and brains to develop well as our envisioned Vision 2030 needs healthy brains.

I am only thinking that maybe the lawmakers should look into this as they have looked into the no-selling of alcohol to people under the age of 18. They should also advocate for a law that will ban pregnant women from buying and drinking beer. So if I was a leader I will stop thinking out loud as I am doing now and simply act on it.

Last time I said I would tell you my new or other name, well my new name in the community is New Era. Many people that have my number either saved my name as John New Era or Muyamba New Era and politicians would call me Comrade New Era but Im ok with that as that’s who I have become. Next time I will tell you about my worst fear. Eewa!
