WINDHOEK – Pick n Pay Namibia has successfully completed the first phase of its 2014 corporate social responsibility road show in which numerous charities received a variety of goods, vouchers and other much needed items which they had requested.
The retailer donated to the Immanuel Old Age Home in Okahandja, the Djaupyu Siteketa orphans and vulnerable children in Rundu, and to the Organisation for the Empowerment of Widows/Widowers and Orphans due to Aids in Namibia (OEWONA) Trust in Katima Mulilo.
“Our first trip took us to Oshikango in the north of the country where we supported the Tate Kuuta Orphans and Vulnerable Children Home. They facilitate the well-being of multiple schools with food items which has benefitted more than 2 000 learners. Thereafter we visited Ondundu Primary School, the Oshakati LifeChange Centre and the Otjiwarongo Multi-Purpose Centre. Last but definitely not least we stopped over in Rundu, Katima and Okahandja,” said Henry Feris, Managing Director of Pick n Pay Namibia, which is a subsidiary of the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group of Companies.
“We hope that our small gesture goes some way in alleviating their plight, and I hope that more Namibian people and companies will support the good work done by so many house mothers and caretakers who so passionately care for vulnerable members of our society,” said Feris.
