Windhoek
South African giants Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are today expected to touch down in Windhoek at around lunchtime for their eagerly-awaited participation in the 3rd edition of the Dr Hage Geingob Cup this weekend.
Pirates will tomorrow lock horns with South African premiership champions and reigning champions of the Dr Hage Geingob Cup, Sundowns, in the second semi-final match of the day at 16h00, with the first semifinal clash seeing Namibian champions Tigers facing African Stars at 14h00. Both matches will be played at the Windhoek Independence Stadium.
The two winners will face each other on Sunday at 16h00, but that will be after the conclusion of the third-place play-off, which starts at 14h00. Tickets for this prestigious competition are available at all Computicket outlets countrywide for N$20. Fans can also buy tickets for both tomorrow and Sunday’s matches for N$30.
The competition’s organisers have also gone out of their way to give local fans value for their money by availing ten busses to transport fans free of charge to and from the stadium tomorrow and Sunday.
“We have secured 10 busses … This is because we recognize that the stadium is a bit far and thus want to make it effortless for people to get to and from the stadium. We want all Namibians in Windhoek to come and witness the best of football with the President, who celebrated his birthday on Tuesday,” said Titus Kunamwene from the Namibia Football Association.
