Pohamba urges Aminuis residents to join Swapo

AMINUIS – Swapo president, Hifikepunye Pohamba, has appealed to residents of Aminuis to join Swapo, saying the party is the only one that can guarantee peace and stability in the country.

“Vote for Swapo Party…Vote for Swapo,” he reiterated. “Yes why not … Yes why not?” Pohamba addressed the Swapo rally in Aminuis in the Omaheke Region on Saturday.
Aminuis is opposition party Nudo’s second-largest support base after Otjinene and the party has won every election held in the constituency since it broke away from the DTA of Namibia in 2003.
“Swapo is the only broad based and representative party in our country that has demonstrated the ability to mobilize and unite our people, irrespective of their colour, race, ethnic origin, gender or religious affiliation,” he stressed.
“Go and tell your friends and families at home also to join the party. Next time when you come to rallies don’t leave them behind,” Pohamba said.
Pohamba added that Swapo “is the only party with the vision to develop our country and that has a proven track record to take Namibia to a higher level of economic and social development”.
“Representatives of different political formations always say they want to do this … they want to do that, but they don’t say what they have done, but Swapo has done a lot and wants to do more if elected into power again,” he said.
“We are not just a party that talks but we are a party that walks the talk,” he stressed.
He added that the work done by Swapo can be seen and also be touched and that is the work that the party wants to continue.
Pohamba also used the opportunity to call on all political parties to conduct the elections peacefully.
“An election is like a game of football, when they are playing they are not enemies, and so should we,” he said.
Pohamba urged Namibians to vote for Swapo Party presidential candidate, Dr Hage Geingob.
“He is good … he is a good man,” he said.
“Be ready to elect the Swapo party back into government, be ready to elect Dr Hage Geingob,” he encouraged supporters.
Pohamba said he was sure if Geingob was elected to succeed him he would execute uncompleted programmes and implement other new ones.
Pohamba also visited the sites of the upgrade of the road from Otjinene to Grootfontein and the road from Gobabis to Aranos that will run through Aminuis to access development.
Among those who attended the rally on Saturday were Minister of Mines and Energy, Isak Katali, Minister of Education, Dr David Namwandi and his deputy Silvia Makgone, Deputy Minister of Works and Transport, Kilus Nguvauva, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Stanley Simataa, and Swapo’s national leader assigned to the Omaheke Region, Immanuel Ngatjizeko, among others.
Pohamba is to address the next Swapo rally scheduled for this week Saturday in Keetmanshoop.
