Police arrest third Pep robbery suspect

Omusati police arrested the third suspect early yesterday morning at Okando village in connection with an armed robbery at Pep Store, Shanty Complex in Onandjaba-Okalongo, on Tuesday around 10h00.

According to the crime investigations coordinator in Omusati, Simaho Moses Malakiya, the suspect was found under a tree with N$59 230 in cash and a pistol.

Malakiya said the first two suspects were arrested on Tuesday at the same village in the Onandjaba area with some of the stolen cash.

It is alleged that on Tuesday morning, the four suspects armed with firearms attacked four Falcon Security guards and shot one guard who died on the spot.

They then grabbed three pistols and cell phones from a security guard and fled with the Falcon Security car with boxes of money. The suspects allegedly dumped the car about five kilometres from the crime scene in the bushes and fled in another vehicle.

The deceased was identified as Henok Edward, a 55-year-old from Ondangwa. His next of kin have been informed of his death.

The police have appealed to the public to report any information that may lead to the arrest of the remaining suspect to any police station.
