Police chief Sebastian Ndeitunga says despite various international and domestic challenges, the force remains committed to honouring its international obligation of maintaining peace and stability around the world.
Ndeitunga was speaking on Monday in Windhoek while welcoming 11 Namibian police members who were part of the United Nations peacekeeping efforts in South Sudan.

The 11 members have been serving as the police’s contingent to the United Nations mission in South Sudan since November 2018.
“We do this through the deployment of police officers to UN peacekeeping missions, to assist those communities that are affected by conflicts to rebuild their societies for sustainable peace and security,” explained Ndeitunga.

He commended the returning officers for having committed themselves by making the police and the country at large proud in honouring the obligation of serving the people of South Sudan with a high level of professionalism, dedication, discipline and integrity.
“You have been good ambassadors of your country in South Sudan, and your contribution to the continental aspirations of peace indeed makes us a proud nation that we are,” he said.

He promised his office was ready to assist the officers psychologically to ensure they are well prepared for their re-integration into their national duties.
“Should anyone of you require assistance, more especially concerning your social welfare, please do not hesitate to bring it to our attention,” he said.
