The Namibian police are investigating seven deaths that were recorded over the weekend.
According to the police weekend crime report, on Saturday, at Telecom location in Otjiwarongo, the lifeless body of 40-year-old Tjipumba Tjapiarara Fransiskus was found in his room by family members.
Also at Otjiwarongo on Saturday, at around 10h42, in the business area, the dead body of 80-year-old Gideon Kahuae was found in his bedroom. It is alleged the victim was sick and no foul play was suspected.
On Friday, at about 19h00 at Goreangab Dam, a lifeless body of an unknown male was found floating in the dam.
According to the police, the body was retrieved with the assistance of Special Reserve Force members. Investigation into the incident continues.
At Tsandi in the Omusati region on Friday, at about 15h00 at Ongulumbashe village, the body of 44-year-old Iipinge Fillemon Armas was found hanging with a wire around his neck in his bedroom.
The police continue to investigate the inquest of 38-year-old Mwindinge Erste, who hanged himself with a rope in his bedroom.
The incident occurred on Friday in Omuvo Street, Hakahana. In another incident, in Omusati region, 21-year-old Nghilifavali Johannes was found hanging from a tree with a wire around his neck. The victim had been last seen on Saturday and his body was discovered on Sunday at about 07h00.
Police in Omahenene are investigating the case of 63-year-old Kredula Hango, whose body was discovered floating in a water canal by a member of the public.
Meanwhile, the police also recorded a case of murder at the Okalongo- Oshikuku T-junction when an unknown suspect allegedly stabbed 52-year-old Joseph Neumbo with an unknown object in the chest and on the left palm. He died instantly. No arrest has yet been made.
At Otjomuise, a case of attempted murder was recorded on Saturday when an unidentified victim was stabbed by an unknown suspect.
“It is alleged that an unknown man was on his way home from the shop when he was approached by three men, who asked him for N$5. He informed them that he did not have.
It is further alleged that one of the suspects stabbed him with an unknown object; no arrests were made and police investigation continues,” read the police report.
At Kuisebmond, a Grade 9 learner at Tutaleni High School died instantly after he was stabbed by a fellow learner with an unknown object on the neck.
The incident occurred on Saturday at about 20h00 at Helmuth Ndungula Street, Kuisebmund.
It is alleged the 18-year-old suspect intentionally stabbed Tuhafeni Kamanya, an 18-year-old Grade 9 learner at the same school.
“It is further alleged that the victim, after he was stabbed, managed to go home and told his parents who stabbed him before he collapsed.
He succumbed to his injuries en route to Walvis Bay state hospital. After the incident, the suspect fled to his uncle at Swakopmund and informed him about the incident. His uncle alerted the police and brought the suspect to Mondesa Police Station, where he was arrested,” reads the report.
