A farmer at farm Wilheben in the Aranos district lost about 15 sheep that were slaughtered without his consent by a stock theft suspect on Saturday at around 00h42.
“It is alleged that the suspect slaughtered the complainant’s sheep to the value of N$30 000, in his camp without the owner’s consent. All 15 carcasses were recovered, but no arrests were made,” said the Police, who said they are still investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, at Oshamale village in Oshakati East, a case of stock theft was also opened over the weekend after two goats were stolen out of the kraal between Friday night and Saturday morning.
“It is alleged that the complainant enclosed the goats as usual in the kraal the previous day. Allegedly, the next morning, he found two goats missing from the kraal and the complainant informed the communities, who jointly, with Nampol, embarked on tracing the footprints that were discovered from the kraal,’’ said the police in the weekend report.
According to the report, while tracing footprints, a short distance from the kraal, the fresh dung and blood stains were discovered.
“The said parties further proceeded with tracing the footprints until in the vicinity of Okandjengedi location, where the footprints entered a certain house and a full goat carcass was discovered in the suspect’s renting room,’’ police said.
According to the police, shoes with the same prints, full of blood stains, were found in the suspect’s room and a traditional knife with blood was also seized. It is alleged that one goat was recovered from where he also sold it.
The value is N$3 000, and two suspects, a male and female, were arrested.
In a different case of theft, a water pump was stolen at farm Bloukrans at Dordabis in the Windhoek District on Friday at an unknown time.
“It is alleged that two unknown suspects stole the complainant’s water pump and cylinder by cutting it without the owner’s consent,” police said in the weekend report.
The value of the stolen water pump was said to be N$30 000.
No arrests and recovery were made.
