OSHAKATI – Police in Oshakati recovered items worth over N$11 000 and N$500 in cash believed to have been stolen in a robbery at Nakale Enterprise bar in the Amutanga area in Oshana Region.

The incident occurred at 03h00 on Tuesday.

Police seized a Toyota Corolla used in the robbery and two pistols.

The Oshana Regional Commander, Commissioner Ndahangwapo Kashihakumwa related that two of the suspects were arrested.

The commissioner said there was no doubt the other two would be arrested soon, adding that the gang is notorious for committing crime.

“The other two suspects are at large, but they are known,” Kashihakumwa assured the public.

The regional commander extended his profound gratitude to the public for consistently being the eyes and ears in curbing crime in the region.

“The community has strong people who are against crime,” said Kashihakumwa.

He said police were tipped off by community members who observed some strange behaviour, hence the police were able to respond quickly.

He cautioned those who want to aid and abet criminals to refrain from doing so because the police are on standby 24/7 ready to pounce.

“We are aware that they are trying to change their strategy thinking that if they commit their crime at 03h00 the police will not be available, but the police are always ready 24/7 for unforeseen circumstances,” said Kashihakumwa.

He said that with Christmas only a few weeks away, the police are aware there are people who want to make instant riches by hook or by crook but he stressed they would be arrested.

He said those who want to enjoy Christmas with their families should refrain from criminal activities or else they will spend their Christmas or new year locked behind bars.

The commissioner further said the Women and Men Network (crime-fighting volunteers) is also fully mobilised to ensure effective and efficient security in the region.

In addition, it is the regional commander’s wish that peace and stability prevail during the festive season.
