Pricilla Mukokobi

Namibian musician Hurry Haiketi, popularly known as Bonsella, recently released his fourth album titled ‘Pain is Fuel’.  The artist, who hails from Edundja and is currently based in Tsumeb, has been making waves in the Namibian music industry since his debut in 2018.

‘Pain is Fuel’ is said to be a departure from Bonsella’s previous work, showcasing his growth and versatility as an artist. The album features a mix of genres, including reggae, hip-hop and Afro-pop, inspired by his personal experiences.

In an interview with VIBEZ!, Bonsella said the album is a reflection of his journey as an artist and as a person. He has had to overcome a lot of obstacles and challenges to get to where he is today, and he wanted to use his pain as fuel to create something meaningful and impactful.

The album has already received positive reviews from music critics and fans alike, with many praising Bonsella’s unique sound and heartfelt lyrics. One reviewer described the album as a testament to his growth as an artist, and a reflection of his dedication to his craft.

“This album is mostly dedicated to the youth and everyone who is going through hardships to keep going, and not to lose hope in life,” he stated.

The album has 14 tracks, with two features only from Xiddo Mlegend on track 2 ‘Oyiimbo yookuku’ and Young 6 on track 14 ‘Taati’. He wants people to take track 4 as their everyday ringtone, just to remind them that “Prayer is the most important conversation of the day. Take it to God before you take it to anyone else”.

There is also track 5 ‘Fake life’, which he describes as: “We are a sad generation with happy faces, with clean happy pictures on social media, but depressed in reality. Check up on each other once a while”.

Bonsella is known for his socially-conscious lyrics and his ability to blend Afro, kwaito and contemporary sounds. His music has been described as a “breath of fresh air” in the Namibian music scene, and he has become a role model for many young aspiring musicians.

With the release of ‘Pain is Fuel’, he is sure to solidify his place as one of Namibia’s most talented and innovative musicians.

The album is now available on all major streaming platforms.

Bonsella is encouraging all young people to be stronger, and to always find ways to overcome pain with positivity. People should know that there will be bad and good days in life always, he noted.

“As long as we are alive, there will be pain: the pain of grief, rejection, financial hardship, illness. So, don’t let the pain stop you. Use it as fuel, and keep going.”  In 2020, he released his first album ‘Ounyuni’ when he was in his second year at Triumphant College, pursuing his diploma in Journalism and Media Studies. It was produced by YKMP Studio, and sponsored by Petcilie Investment CC. Track 4 ‘I Do’ (Martha) was trending on all digital platforms, radio stations and media at the time.

In 2021, he released his second album titled ‘Success Breeds Success,’ in which there were more features from various artists like Young T on title track 7, Loco Sound and Vundakan on track 4 ‘Momilema’, Kaboy Kamakili on track 3 ‘Molukanda’, Zoblam uncle V and Dizzo on track 5 ‘Esimaneko’, and many more.

In 2022, he released his third album called ‘Wounds Never Pain Again’, featuring Dama Monique and K Dio ABK.
