City probes bus accident

The City of Windhoek says it has started an investigation after one of its municipal buses was involved in an accident on Monday, leaving two passengers injured.

Municipal spokesperson Harold Akwenye yesterday confirmed the injured occupants are in stable condition and receiving medical assistance.

The bus crash occurred in Otjomuise early Monday morning.

He said one of the injured persons was treated and discharged with minor injuries.

“We are trying to locate the second lady, who is at Katutura hospital.  The Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund is assisting with the medical arrangements,” said Akweenye.

There were 20 passengers on board the bus at the time of the accident.

“We wish the injured passengers a speedy recovery. The cause of the accident is still unknown and an investigation is underway,” he added.
