Cricketer Kejarukua joins English cricket side

Namibian cricketer Eveleen Kejarukua was on Saturday unveiled as one of three new signees of English side East Huntspill Cricket Club, which campaigns in that country’s West Somerset Cricket League.

The club announced on its social media platforms over the weekend that the 28-year-old will be joining its female side ahead of the 2022 season.

The other two new signees are Canadian cricketer Jaafar Shahabuddin and Australian batsman Tom Pengelly, who will both be featuring for the men’s side.

A renowned off-spinning bowler of note for Namibia’s senior women’s side, Kejarukua brings a wealth of experience to the East Huntspill set-up, given her impressive CV at international level.

She made her Women’s Twenty20 International (T20I) debut for Namibia against Lesotho during the 2018 Botswana Cricket Association Women’s T20I Series. The following year, she was named in Namibia’s squad for the 2019 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier tournament in Scotland.

On her part, an elated Kejarukua said she is ready to embrace all the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for her promising cricket career, adding that she welcomes the move to East Huntspill with both hands.

“I’m honoured to be part of this. Thank you so much East Huntspill Cricket Club for providing me with this opportunity,” she excitedly posted on her Facebook page.
