Flying Eagles face a heavy battle in the Okakarara third division league, as they managed to collect only one point from nine games.

The team is currently at the bottom of the table without a win, having drawn one match and losing eight games in the league composed of 12 teams.

Flying Eagles assistant coach and captain Tuapuka Khaiseb spoke about the team’s performance, stating that the team comprises many young players, who are still in the learning process.

“We recruited young boys who never played at this high level against big teams. Our mission is not about winning the league, but to keep youth together and become future stars,” said Khaiseb.

He added that lack of sponsorship and proper training grounds also hamper team progress in the league.

Khaiseb, is, however, positive the team will return to winning ways and compete at a high level.

“We are struggling; our pockets are empty as we try to maintain this team,” he said.

Leading the log is the Okakarara Senior Secondary School (SSS) with 19 points, ahead of the Onduezu football team, who are in second position with the same points a a one-goal difference.

The Okakarara Vocational Training Centre (OVTC) holds the third place with 18 points, as Clever Boys are breathing down their neck in fourth position with 17 points.

Action on Saturday saw OVTC crushing Okaondeka Young Stars 2-0, whereas Onduezu stunned Golden Mission 3-2.

Blue Boys humiliated Flying Eagles by five goals to nil, while Gum and Mint lost by a solitary goal against Oruindjoromakuja in a highly competitive encounter.

The log leaders Okakarara SSS fell 2-3 against Nantu, which was their second defeat in the league after nine games.

In the last Saturday encounter, Clever Boys clinched a 1-0 victory against Namvoc, which was a highly contested match.

On Sunday, the derby between two vocational training teams: OVTC and Namvoc, ended in a stalemate with two goals apiece.

Okakarara SSS then crushed Blue Boys by a 5-1 scoreline, while Golden Mission defeated Clever Boys 2-1.

Flying Eagles continued with its poor run in the league when they were beaten 3-2 by Gum and Mint, and Onduezu humiliated Okaondeka YS 5-0.

Oruindjoromakuja and Nantu brought the league proceedings to an end on Sunday with stellar performances from both teams, which resulted in a one-all stalemate.

The first-round matches of the Okakarara third division stream are expected to end in early July.
