Food and music expo in Ongwediva

ONGWEDIVA – The Ongwediva trade fair centre will be the venue for the fourth edition of the Call Out Bar food and music expo in November.

The first expo was held in March last year at the Call Out Bar in Ongwediva and had over 12 exhibitors who showcased and sold different products and services to customers. Event organiser Erickson Ndeuyeeka told VIBEZ! last year’s exhibitors were few due to the limited space.

“When we held volume 2 in July [2022], we had 21 exhibitors who showed interest but the space we had was small, but this year we got a bigger and better space to host our event,” he said. Ndeuyeeka added that the new venue presents a great and exciting opportunity to get more exhibitors and give everyone a chance to exhibit their products.

So far, more than 17 exhibitors have shown interest in getting their stalls registered for the upcoming event.

“This year’s theme is also going to be different, we are thinking of ‘vintage’ since it is going to be summer,” Ndeuyeeka said with sheer excitement.

Asked about the challenges they face when organising an exhibition of this magnitude, he said: “We had water and electricity issues. Most of our exhibitors had nowhere to get access to electricity and were even forced to get water from the nearest households. We also had limited time for exhibitors to sell but hopefully now with OTF we can go till late”.

Meanwhile, Ongwediva Town Council spokesperson Jackson Muma said they encourage private expos, social events and economic activities in the town.

“Economic activities are meant to stimulate economic growth for the town and the venue is very much open the whole year for any event,” Muma said.
