Former goalkeeper overcomes injury to inspire 

A former goalkeeper, Jacob Diabate, who faced a career-ending injury, has found a new purpose in life as a fitness coach and bootcamp founder. His journey took a surprising trajectory after sustaining an injury that forced him to leave the world of football behind.

After the setback, Diabate transitioned to become a fitness coach, focusing his efforts on the Namibia Correctional Service (NCS) netball team in 2021. His commitment and dedication paid off as the NCS team clinched the MTC Netball Premier League under his guidance the same year.

Taking his passion a step further, he ventured into the realm of personal training by establishing his own bootcamp in Dorado last year.

“At Jacob’s Fitness, we have a well-established programme. Monday, we wake up the body with cardio. On Tuesday, we do the cardio leg recess and finish with the abdominals. On Wednesday, we go running for 10km for the old ones and 5km for the new ones. On Thursday, we work a lot on the balance of the body, arms, and belly. Friday, we are only doing the abs,” he said. 

Diabate told VIBEZ that he enjoys fitness, and seeing his bootcamp grow makes him very happy. His clients are satisfied with his work, and they have been referring others to join because of the best results.

He added that Jacob’s Fitness is now family. The team trains from Monday to Friday, and sometimes on Saturdays, they go to the mountain. Moreover, he tries to give attention to every team member.

“First of all, I work on the cardio to get the client to see energy in the heart. We have different groups, for those who want to lose weight and those who want to have a balanced body,” he said. 

What sets him apart is his unique approach to coaching. Unlike conventional trainers who meticulously plan sessions, he relies on intuition, emotion, and energy to guide his clients through workouts. He describes himself as a bit of a psychologist, using his understanding of his clients’ psychology to create effective training experiences.

Furthermore, he follows his clients and takes their weight every three weeks to see their evolution and push them to achieve their body goals. With men in uniform, it’s a lot of energy to give, very rigorous. Its competition teams and training are without mercy.

“I admit that it’s not easy. Often, there are customers who always complain about their physical condition after a long day at work. There are whims; there are people who find that the exercise is too hard, but in the end, I have to endure and give them energy for work. I am a motivator, and at Jacob’s Fitness, we never give up, but we leave our problems in training, and we leave all tired and happy at home,” he concluded.
