Gunman kills young man at Rundu

RUNDU – Eighteen year-old Rundu resident Alpo Malaka Sipilikita was on Friday allegedly killed in cold blood after he was shot in the chest at Millennium Park residential area. 

Sipilikita was shot while strolling in
the street at 22h00.

The incident has left the town’s residents with more questions than answers. 

“The information obtained revealed
that Sipilikita was found walking in the street and was shot to death by an
unknown person. The deceased is a Namibian male and a grade 10 learner at Rundu Senior Secondary School and a resident of Tutungeni location,’’ said Kavango East police regional commander, Johanna Ngondo, who confirmed the incident to New Era.

At this stage, no witnesses have come forth to assist in the police investigations.

According to a police report, the suspect allegedly shot the victim in the chest with an unknown firearm and that led to the victim dying instantly. 

Ngondo said the suspect is still in the wind as he or she is unknown. “No arrest has been made yet. But police investigations continue,’’ she said.

Meanwhile in Oshikoto region, on Saturday at around 8h30, an Angolan man allegedly committed suicide at Onekaku village in the Oshigambo area. It is alleged that the body of the deceased, Manuel Domingu (26) was discovered by his girlfriend, with a rope around his neck, hanging from the roof of his sleeping
room. 

“No foul play is suspected, no suicide note was found and the next of kin were informed. Police investigation continues,’’ read the police report.

At Karibib in Erongo region, an inquest was registered with the Namibian Police on Friday at 16h34, after Bradley Nowoseb (19) died after being struck by lightning.

“He succumbed to head injuries after he was struck by lightning, while he and his relative were fixing something on top of the house roof. It is alleged that it started raining and both the deceased and the relative were struck by lightening, which caused them to fall off the roof. The deceased was taken to the local clinic, where he later died. His next of kin were informed and police investigation continues,’’ police said.
