‘Intoxicated’ women allegedly raped

Police are investigating two cases of rape in which two women in their 20s were raped while under the influence of alcohol.

According to the weekend crime report, on Saturday, between 02h00 and 07h00 at the Koppieslaagte location, Tseiblaagte, in Keetmanshoop, a 39-year-old man allegedly had sexual intercourse with a 26-year-old female victim without her consent while she was under the influence of alcohol and asleep.

The suspect was arrested and will appear in court this week.

At Opuwo, a rape case was registered on  Saturday, at around 01h00 in Otjerunda village, Opuwo Urban constituency. A 25-year-old woman was allegedly sexually violated while walking from the shebeens.

The report indicated that an 18-year-old Namibian male suspect found the 25-year-old female victim walking home from the Otjerunda location. He allegedly grabbed her from behind, put her down on the ground and had sexual intercourse with her without consent.

The suspect was arrested and will appear in the Opuwo Magistrate’s Court this week and the police investigation continues.

Meanwhile, the police are also investigating other criminal cases at Opuwo in which three men were  found in possession of suspected stolen livestock.

The report indicated that the three men were charged with transportation of livestock without a removal certificate.

The incident occurred on Saturday at Okondaunwe village, after three Namibian male suspects aged 27, 28 and 29 were found in possession of 23 suspected stolen goats in a Toyota Hilux bakkie.

According to the information gathered by the police, the goats were transported from Ombombo village, Omakange area to Opuwo without any permits and the suspects failed to provide reasonable grounds of such possession.

The police indicated that most of the goats have only ear tag holes which indicates that ear tags were removed. All three suspects were arrested. Police investigation continues.
