Kilimanjaro’s boxing bonanza moved to May

Due to unforeseen circumstances, MTC Kilimanjaro Boxing Club’s Independence Boxing Bonanza, initially planned for this month, has now been moved to May, the club’s chairperson Joseph Benhard said yesterday.

Northern-based Kilimanjaro Boxing Club has announced that a boxing bonanza will be held this month as part of the country’s 31st independence celebrations – but due to unforeseen circumstances, Benhard said the event has now been moved to the first week of May. “We regret to inform our beloved boxing lovers that the event we had planned for this month has been called off due to unforeseen circumstances that were really beyond our control. However, after consultations with all stakeholders, a new date for this event was found and it will be the beginning of May. We want to urge all boxers to continue training so that when the day arrives, they are ready,” he said. The event was also initially going to feature two cards – one comprising amateurs and other professional bouts – but that has also changed, with Benhard saying the coming event will now strictly feature only amateur boxers.
