Leap of faith pays off for Summers

Namibian model, actor and singer Rowan Summers is adding the final touches to his first album, set for release later this year.

But before he debuts his solo effort, Summers, who is based in Mexico, recently released his second single titled ‘Don’t Go’. The song tells the story of vulnerability, arrogance, frustration and faith in a dying, narcissistic relationship where the couple has broken up and reconciled countless times.

“It gets to a point where I gracefully asked God to help, guide and give me the strength to make the right decision. I hope fans will enjoy the song because it is really sentimental to me,” he told VIBEZ!

In 2021, Summers took a leap of faith and went solo after the group ‘LOVE’ disbanded, and the very same year released his first offering, ‘What If’.

“I get to tell my story, grow and develop as an artist. Being in the group prepared me for what I am growing into right now. I have been working on my new singles, and performing live as I had two concerts since then and a couple of shows with other artists at different venues here in Mexico City. The reception has been amazing; a lot of doors have opened up for me ever since then, especially in the United States. I’m excited to see how the world will receive my new single.”

The Unam biochemistry graduate is a professional model since 2017 with Queta Rojas, a modelling agency that takes care of his bookings. Apart from Mexico, he has had modelling gigs in the USA, India and South Africa, and has worked for brands such as Calvin Klein, Vogue and Tommy Hilfiger.

“Modelling has really been rewarding thus far. I’m very grateful to be doing what I’m doing at the moment, and I never take it for granted. I would say that the reward is in the people I get to meet, the opportunities I’m exposed to as well as how it develops me as a person and artist.”

Summers started working on his album titled ‘My World of Love’ in 2021, and plans on releasing it once all the elements fall into place.

“My album is still coming out. I’m planning on releasing three singles from the album, of which ‘Don’t Go’ is the second single. After that, I’ll drop the album. I don’t have an exact date yet, but we will know after the release of my third single,” he beamed.

“I hope that they will enjoy the song.”

The lanky Summers posted on his social media page recently that the song is out after two years of working on it with three different producers, and six months of vocal recovery after an accident and a whole lot of mental health issues.

Influenced by the music his mother always played around the house and later introduced to the piano by his dad, Summers’ love for singing took off at a young age, and he took a liking to Pop, R&B and Soul. However, his music is not limited to these genres.

He urged fans to reach out to him on his social media accounts and let him know what they think about the song, and how it makes them feel because it helps him as a singer-songwriter.

He has advice for his peers. “They should never give up on their dreams, and they should always remember to show up for themselves every single day”.
