Meat and Beer Festival: A celebration of food and music

The 7th edition of the popular Meat and Beer Festival tomorrow again promises to be a celebration of everything that make Windhoek great – the love of good food and drinks, the vibrant arts scene, and sense of community.

Billed for the Moses van der Byl Primary School sports field in Windhoek, this entertainment event will offer various activities such as a kiddies’ corner and sports games, meat and beer competitions and a music
bash.

Organiser Venee Mieze of the TrailB Events company told VIBEZ! that apart from providing entertainment, the festival is aimed to revive the social-economic slump brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic by creating a platform for SMEs and local musicians.

“Gates open at around 10h00 and the musical bash will commence at 16h00 until midnight, incorporating local popular artists such as One Blood, Beckham, D Kandjafa, Dj Castro, Yeezir, Ozil, Rax, Ben Mutjanga, and Ongoro Nomundu,” he said.

The festival was launched in 2022 and has become a household name in Namibia’s entertainment industry, with two editions held in Okahandja (including the maiden event), Otjiwarongo, Gobabis, Windhoek and Opuwo. Mieze remarked that the festival gained popularity from its first edition which recorded around 900 people in attendance, followed by almost double the number at the second edition in Otjiwarongo.

The numbers of festival goers continue to grow, with the last edition in October last year that was hosted over three days registering over 4 000 people.
