Music and fashion show to empower youth in Oshakati

The UpNext Musik Fashion Streetway show will be staged in Oshakati East, Oshana region on Saturday.

Starting at 18h00, the event seeks to provide a platform for fashion designers, brand owners, models, artists, and DJs, with a special focus on inspiring and motivating young girls and boys in the northern region.

The location is only known to ticket holders. Martin Kapuka, the founder of Blaqhouse Collection told VIBEZ! the initiative comes as a response to the growing need for opportunities in the fashion and entertainment industry in Oshakati and its surrounding areas.

Kapuka envisions the event as not only a showcase of talent but also a catalyst for positive change and empowerment
within the community.

He said the event is about local music and couture fashion culture including Oshiwambo traditional attire and to establish a market for local artists, and the fashion designer industry.

“Therefore, this is the best opportunity for local musicians and local fashion designers to come in big numbers to showcase their talents,” he said.

Kapuka said the upcoming event is for everybody including young ones, youth and elders who love fashion and entertainment, especially those who love being outside the box.

“Parents should bring their children so that they learn about the importance of traditional attire and also to be entertained,” he added.

Furthermore, Kapuka said the preparations are going well and they have engaged the Oshakati Town Council and stakeholders in the community for their support.

Tickets can be reserved via the EventBrite website, or they can contact +264812071365. No tickets will be sold at the event.

“People have begun purchasing
tickets, the models have been selected for the show, and the tailors have taken their measurements,” he said.

Kapika has called on the people to show up in big numbers, especially the youth because there will be various activities taking place such as Shavy Shav Live on Decks with performances by Slime Namibia, CRK, Slage Pro, Low Wabbi, Arsene, and a surprise performance.

He thanked the sponsors such as the National Arts Council of Namibia, Young Nams Investment Group, Born Free Edutainment, Oshiwa Clothing, Hustle Fit Clothing, and the Local Attack Show (LAS) for making this event possible.
