Nandi-Ndaitwah calls for disciplined Swapo leaders

OMUTHIYA - Swapo vice president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called on party leaders to be disciplined because the opposite will destroy the party.

“Unity comes with discipline, and a lack of discipline is a cancer for any institution. To build this Swapo party, we must maintain maximum discipline by following our constitution, political programme, rules and procedures as well as party directives as being issued to address specific issues for our common interest,” she said.

Speaking during the Swapo rally held on Saturday at Omuthiya in the Oshikoto region, Nandi-Ndaitwah, who is the 2024 presidential candidate for Swapo, urged party supporters to unite, have peace with others, and work hard.

“Let’s stop wishing others bad things because one day, it will turn against you. Let’s forgive one another. Revenge won’t build us in this party,” she emphasised.

She noted that she did not take revenge against people who did not vote for her during last year’s Swapo congress, because she believes in unity of the party.

Nandi-Ndaitwah furthermore called on Swapo leaders to give a good example to the public and remain committed to their work.

“I, therefore, would like to urge all of us who are entrusted with responsibilities of serving our people and our country, whether in the party or in government, to do so with dedication, commitment and integrity. We should go to people so that we listen to their challenges,” she stated.

In addition, Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed concern over people with too much anger when they are talking to others.

“We should stop the spirit of too much anger because it won’t take us anywhere. We should respect one another,” she continued.

She also advised leaders to stop protecting those who are not performing their duties well.

“Tribalism is a big cancer in this country. We should stop it. We are one Namibia,” she said.

Meanwhile, Nandi-Ndaitwah said despite the water crisis faced by the Oshikoto region, it should not discourage people from voting for Swapo.

“I am fully aware that the water crisis and bad roads are the major challenges in Oshikoto. We are busy solving this problem. We will remain committed to solving the water crisis because water is life,” she promised.

She likewise asked people to focus on strengthening the party now as they are preparing for the Presidential and National Assembly elections in 2024 and in the future.

Also speaking at the event was Armas Amukwiyu, who told the audience that Swapo was here to stay, and will not be shaken by the propaganda being peddled by haters.
