Modestu Fenivamwe, Ester Silas and Hasheni Mandume were recently selected as the top three amateur cooks for the central regional part of the Nedbank Kapana Cook-Off competition and now head to the final slated for Ongwediva during the annual trade fair there on 27 August.

 They were chosen from among 40 amateur chefs in the central regional preliminary round for a place in the final of the competition, where they stand a chance to win the grand prize of a mobile food truck worth N$100 000 as well as a cash prize of N$10 000. 

 In each round, contestants are expected to prepare the Namibian delicacy with a dash of their personality for judges from the Namibia Chefs Association, who emphasise hygiene, presentation and taste. 

 “Having over 40 contestants show up to prepare their version of the much-loved Namibian dish, shows that the Nedbank Kapana Cook-Off competition has grown since we started the initiative eight years ago,” said Nedbank spokesperson Selma Kaulinge.

 The last preliminary round, which is the northern regional round, of the competition will take place in Ongwediva on 25 June 2022. 

 Entries into the Northern round are open and are available on the Nedbank Namibia website, or at any Nedbank branch countrywide.
