President praises St Boniface
"DIVUNDU - President Hifikepunye Pohamba on Monday heaped praise on the country’s top-performing school, the Roman Catholic Church-run St Boniface College. He made the congratulatory remarks when he diverted from his prepared speech during the inauguration of the Rukonga Vision School in Divundu. “St Boniface come here and join me,” said the President as he called the principal of the school, Mary Phillis Yesudasan, who was one of the invited guests to the podium to commend her and the entire school for their outstanding performance. “We congratulate you and your school for making it, not once, but every year. When I look at the pass marks of your school it is ever high. Pass my message on to your entire staff members,” said the President, who was in a jovial mood. “The logic is clear that each child must aim to excel and pass with high marks, it will have a cumulative effect and we will see higher pass rates in schools and tertiary institutions,” said Pohamba.  “I interrupted myself, now I continue, yes you can be interrupted by yourself or anybody, if there are good things that someone did which you need to congratulate them for,” he said before continuing with his official speech. Seven out of the top ten Grade 12 learners, with the best overall performance in the country last year, are from St Boniface College in the Kavango Region. Three of those learners are in the top five bracket. The school is also ranked numero uno in the country following its exceptional performance over the past few years. The college is a Roman Catholic School situated east of Rundu and was founded by Archbishop Bonifatius Hausiku, together with an assembly of around 200 teachers, members of the community and missionaries in 1994.
