Shiyuka wins inaugural Rubinstein Fantasy League

The inaugural Rubinstein Fantasy League saw 141 fantasy players compete for the grand prize of N$15 000 but it was Penda Shiyuka of Penderentials FC who took top honours with an amazing score of 2 512 Fantasy Points in the 38 Gameweek season.

Jacques Frye of Parkies United and King El Zhar of Die Zama FC finished in second and third places, respectively. Frye bagged 2 471 Fantasy Points to walk away with N$10 000, while El Zhar took home N$5 000 after finishing slightly behind Frye.

Overall, the Rubinstein Fantasy League had a prize fund of N$50 000, with players winning N$7 000 in monthly prizes and N$4 000 in weekly Supreme Betting credit. The prize fund is set to increase next season with the grand prize expected to be N$20 000, as organisers look to popularise fantasy football in Namibia.

The Rubinstein Fantasy League was made possible by the Rubinstein Chess Academy, Khomasdal Guesthouse, Supreme Betting and Pathway Education Centre as the main sponsors for the competition.

More sponsors are expected to come on board in order to make this landmark competition a must-play, says founding member Israel Shilongo from Rubinstein Chess Academy.

Registrations for the new season are underway via info@fantasy.rubinsteinholdings.com or 0813705880 as well as via the Instagram handle @ Rubinstein Fantasy League.
