Short Film on Teenage Pregnancy to Be Launched
"By Frederick Philander WINDHOEK An Aids documentary film titled, Five Minutes of Pleasure by the Ombetja Yehinga Organisation, is to be launched within the next two weeks in the capital at the Theatre School of the College of the Arts. In a nutshell the short film follows the lives of four teenagers living in the capital in their quest for love and a better live. The film features Namibian actors Valerie Tjirimuje, Bianca Gomxas, Paulina Tjitana and Barnabas Ochurus. ""Anthony (19) and Tanya (17) have a child. Unlike the majority Namibian young men Anthony decides to take full responsibility as a parent and looks after the child. He quits school and moves in with the girlfriend and her mother. The young man finds himself a job as a street cleaner,"" states a synopsis of the film. While Anthony's love for his baby boy grows his relationship with his girlfriend inevitably suffers and deteriorates. ""Samantha (16) a school girl discovers she is pregnant after a one night stand with her boyfriend, Musa. The girl is at a complete loss and is supported by here friend, Rebecca, who has a secret of her own,"" the release said. The film has been shot on location in and around the capital and was directed by Philippe Talavera. Said Talavera: ""It was a pleasant experience shooting this short film. All those people involved in the shooting thereof had been extremely motivated and hard working. The video-film discusses the difficult issue of teenage pregnancy. It is a not a lecture and does not blame anyone. It is showing the reality of being of becoming a teenage parent."" "
