‘Special One’ maintains perfect record

NAMIBIA’S rising junior lightweight boxer Flame “Special One” Nangolo extended his unbeaten record by defeating Zimbabwe’s Jeremaih Mhere in the second round of their thrilling bout on Saturday.

The match, held at the Roman Catholic Hall, was the main attraction of a boxing bonanza organized by AC Boxing Promotions. Saturday’s win also saw Flame stretch his record to 11 wins from 11 fights.

From the get-go, Nangolo was dominant in delivering precise jabs and relentless hard punches that left his opponent struggling to keep up. In the second round, Nangolo’s attack proved too much for Mhere, leading to the referee declaring Nangolo the winner.

Speaking after the bout, he said he expected the bout to be short because he knew his opponent did not stand any chance against him.

“It was an easy bout for me I knew it would be a short fight because I knew the guy was built like me. It was just a matter of time before I could take him down. I knew I prepared well for this, and I know the guy’s record, and by looking at it from the get-go, I knew he could not stand the heat I was bringing in the ring,” said Nangolo, who is known as the ‘Special One’ in the boxing world.

Promoter and trainer Immanuel ‘AC’ Moses expressed gratitude.

“We owe our success to the fans and corporates who showed up and supported this event. Your contributions are vital to the growth of the sport, and we’re committed to delivering top-notch entertainment,” he said.

In the supporting bouts, Ruaan Rispel secured a majority decision victory over Paulus Iipinge in the lightweight division, while Hafeni Ngesheya emerged victorious with a unanimous decision against Nicanor Halweendo in another lightweight clash.

In the junior lightweight division, Josef Ampeya displayed his prowess by delivering a knockout blow to Robert Ndalelwa in the first round. More so, Petrus Salom claimed a unanimous decision victory over Martin Kampulu in the super lightweight division.
