WINDHOEK – On Friday at around 22:00 at Kries settlement near Gibeon a 29-year-old man allegedly raped a highly expectant woman who was due to give birth in December, Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi informed the media during the regular weekly crime briefing yesterday.
The suspect allegedly threatened the woman with a knife, then forcefully took her home where he repeatedly raped her and threatened to kill her if she dare tell anyone about the rape.
The man has been arrested and is expected to appear in court today.
On Saturday at 21:00 in Okuryangava in Katutura, two armed suspects robbed a shebeen of N$5 700. No other information was provided.
In Wanaheda between Friday and Sunday, 24 people were arrested on various offences ranging from assault and theft to housebreaking, crimen injuria and other petty crimes.
On Friday at 22:00 at farm Bullsport near Maltahöhe, a 31-year-old man was stabbed with a kitchen knife in the chest by a 28-year-old man, and died on the spot. The two were allegedly quarrelling. The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in court today.
Last Tuesday, 24-year-old Paul John, a Namibian, died at Herero Block, Epako in Gobabis, following an argument over a blanket.
John was allegedly sleeping outside his shack when another man came and asked for a blanket to sleep. John allegedly informed the man that he did not have another blanket and requested the man to rather come and sleep with him. The suspect allegedly started beating and kicking John all over his body. John died the next day in hospital.
