President Hage Geingob left Namibia last week on a multi-nation tour that started in Angola and will end in the USA on 27 September.

Yesterday, the Presidency announced, “on the margins of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, President Hage Geingob met with a team of Adam Global representatives.

“The meeting was a follow-up to a dinner hosted last year in London in honour of President Geingob. Adam Global is initiating a training programme for medical doctors in Namibia. In January 2023, a team of doctors in orthopaedics,
maternity health, accident safety health, and eye health will visit Namibia to kick-start the training programme. Adam Global pledged to offer 10 scholarships to Namibian students for the study of medicine in Georgia.”

President Geingob attended the investiture ceremony of the president of Angola João Lourenço on Thursday, 15 September. He laid a wreath in honour of the late former President José Eduardo dos Santos at Memorial António Agostinho Neto in Luanda, Angola on Friday. Yesterday, President Geingob attended the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in London, UK before proceeding to the United Nations General Assembly’s 77th session in New York, USA.

In the evening of 18 September, President Geingob attended the King Charles III reception at Buckingham Palace in memory of the late Queen, alongside other heads of state and government.

From London, President Geingob will proceed to New York, USA, to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 77), under the theme: ‘A Watershed
Moment: Transformative Solutions to Interlocking Challenges’. The theme recognises that the world is at a critical moment in the history of the United Nations due to complex and interconnected crises and aims to find joint solutions to crises and build a sustainable and resilient
world.

President Geingob is scheduled to deliver remarks on Wednesday, 21 September and will also participate in the World Economic Forum Sustainable Development Impact Meeting on Thursday, 22 September.

President Geingob will be the main speaker at the Namibia Investment Summit, organised by the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDP). In addition, he has been invited to be a key speaker at the Bloomberg Emerging + Frontier Forum 2022 on Thursday, 22 September.

President Geingob is expected to return to Namibia on 27 September 2022.
