President appoints additional members to task forces

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has appointed additional members to the Presidential Task Forces, strengthening teams that were announced earlier to drive key national priorities.

The new appointments announced on Tuesday afternoon were to build on the initial 51 composition of the task forces, which were previously reported.

According to the Office of the President, the additions aimed at improving coordination, strengthening technical capacity and speeding up implementation across critical sectors of the economy.

In the Economic Recovery Task Force, the President appointed Emilia Uupindi Mutenda and Tudiminapo Shindume.  According to the Presidency, these appointments are meant to reinforce strategic and technical capacity as the task force works to support economic recovery and growth.

The Health Task Force has also been strengthened with the appointment of Dr Mirjam Matheus and Norman Nanuseb.

The Office of the President said the new members are expected to help improve policy oversight and service delivery in the health sector, which remains a key priority for the government.

In addition, Natasha Mbai has been appointed to the Land and Housing Task Force. The task force focuses on improving land delivery, housing development and coordination among institutions involved in these areas.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed confidence in the newly appointed members and wished them well in their responsibilities.

She said the additional appointments would help the task forces to deliver focused interventions aligned with the government’s development agenda. “I am confident that the strengthened task forces will contribute meaningfully to accelerating implementation in these priority areas,” the President said.

Meanwhile, the Office of the President has issued a correction and apology regarding an earlier announcement on the composition of the task forces. Pomwene Esther Shakela was initially listed as a member of the Economic Recovery Task Force.

The Office has clarified that  Shakela is, in fact, appointed as a member of the Presidential Task Force on Land and Housing.

“The Office of the President regrets any confusion this error may have caused and appreciates the understanding of the public and stakeholders,” the statement said.

The Presidency reaffirmed its commitment to accuracy in official communication and thanked all appointed members for their willingness to serve the nation.

The task forces were established following the Namibia Public-Private Forum and are expected to play a key role in addressing national challenges.
