Local tennis players will once again have the chance to showcase their skills when the popular PTA Tennis Series resumes this weekend (31 July and 1 August) with the 5th tourney of the season, at the Windhoek High School (WHS) courts.

The PTA Tennis Series is the only series of tourneys in Namibia where the participants play according to their skill level and are not bound by their age.

In the mini category, Eila Kambonde and Jamilla Hungamo are expected to continue their intense rivalry, which has been going on since the beginning of the year.

In their last confrontation, Kambonde got the better of Hungamo and will be out to repeat that feat again. However, Hungamo is expected to put up a fierce fight this time round.

The beginners division will be an equally closely contested challenge with Faith Kahuure and Delicia Dirkse to go full out. The former came out tops last time around, giving her a slight advantage going into this weekend’s action.

Meanwhile, Lorenzo Kotze won the intermediate division after fighting through stiff competition last month and will be firm favourite, while Cleet Farmer proved to be a hot potato in the advanced category.

Farmer had just moved to this class after winning most of the intermediate category this year where he took top honours, and is likely to be in contention for top accolades again.
