Real estate agents described 2024 as a year filled with challenges and opportunities in the property financing industry.
They endured challenges and remained motivated to make more sales in 2025. These sentiments were shared at the Bank Windhoek annual Coastal Estate Agent Awards in Swakopmund on 14 March. The awards recognise estate agents’ hard work and dedication in Namibia’s coastal areas.
While delivering his remarks, Bank Windhoek’s chief financial officer and interim specialist finance executive officer Zenaune Kamberipa said demand for homeownership remains strong.
“The reduced repo rate creates opportunities for more families to take their first steps onto the property ladder, and this is where our collective efforts become crucial,” he said.
He added that the property market could foresee increased economic activity and the demand for housing in Swakopmund, Walvis Bay and Lüderitz across the affordable, middle and luxury housing segments.
“We will also see a demand for commercial and industrial spaces as the appetite for demand for oil and gas increases regionally and globally. Prospects for the coast and the rest of Namibia look good for the immediate future,” he said.
Human & Co Real Estate received the Gold Award as an achiever of the year in the coast. Representing the company, Olga Human said for 2024 and 2025, the property market in Walvis Bay is observing an exceptionally high demand from potential buyers.
However, minimal properties are available in the residential and industrial sectors.
“Interest has surged from international and Namibian businesses, especially in the oil, gas and logistics industries. Compared to last year, this growth has been significant, further reinforcing Walvis Bay’s role as a strategic economic hub,” she said.
Being in the real estate industry for over a decade, Human shared her remarkable journey with Bank Windhoek. “Bank Windhoek upholds the values of respect, efficiency and dedication. They take the time to meet clients, process home loan applications without unnecessary delays, and ensure valuations, signings and other steps are handled promptly,” she said. “As Human & Co continues to grow, this achievement serves as motivation to maintain high standards, build stronger client relationships, and contribute positively to real estate at the coast,” she added.
Corne Robberts from Grobbies Estates said he appreciates Bank Windhoek’s recognition of estate agents’ work in the property market and looks forward to more sales in 2025.
