WALVIS BAY – Local sports guru, Quinton Steele-Botes, has been conducting a coaching clinic in Walvisbay for for coaches, teachers and parents in the Erongo Region this past week.
Botes covered the sprints, relays, hurdles, long jump, high jump, shot put, discus and javelin disciplines during the 3-day gathering that attracted 40 coaches. The coaches were taken through the ropes in the areas of technical officiating for competition judges with 45 sitting for an examination at the end of the course. The clinic and technical course were well attended by teachers from 10 different schools, including parents. The qualified judges will now be able to officiate at this year’s zonal and regional competitions, while offering well-planned, on-time and professional competitions locally.
Namibia can now also utilize the services of the judges during bigger events in Windhoek. Another course on programming, periodisation, fitness components and bio- motor abilities is to be offered next year.
