KARASBURG – A case of a man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl six years ago in Karasburg, has been postponed once more – this time to 14 July 2026. 

Sixtus Swartbooi (44), stands accused of having committed a series of rape against a minor between September 2020 and March 2021.

When he appeared before Karasburg regional court this week, Magistrate Marlene Mungunda postponed the matter to 14 July 2026 as the regional court prosecutor was not available at the time.

He allegedly faces three charges related to the offence of rape, read with the provisions of the Combating of Rape Act no. 8 of 2000.  

According to the charge sheet the accused allegedly unlawfully and intentionally committed or continued to commit a sexual act against the victim who was a minor at the time of the incident. 

Swartbooi is out on N$5 000 bail which was extended during his appearance. -sklukowski@nepc.com.na
