Rapist Dad on the Run

WALVIS BAY

The father of a nine-year-old girl is on the run after it was discovered that he has been raping his daughter since last year.

According to the police, the man, whose identity is withheld to protect the child, is alleged to have forced himself on his daughter on several occasions while she was in his care.

On the last occasion, police said the man entered the room in which the victim was sleeping with her brother and sexually assaulted her. It is alleged that the father ordered the boy to leave the room and go and sleep in another room. He allegedly ordered the girl not to tell anyone about the incident.

Criminal charges have since been laid against the man, who is still at large.

The incident is said to have sent shockwaves among the closely-knit community of Arandis, with some threatening to take drastic action against the suspect.

Meanwhile, two more rape cases were reported in Walvis Bay last weekend.

A Narraville woman was allegedly raped at her home during the early hours of Sunday morning. The police report says the woman returned from a nightclub and fell asleep in her living room. She was, however, stunned by the presence of a man in front of her when she woke up. In an attempt to evade her attacker, she apparently ran into her bedroom where the man allegedly followed her and raped her.

It is still unclear how the man gained entry into the house. The suspect has been arrested and is due to appear in court this week.

Police also reported that another woman was allegedly dragged out of a taxi and raped by an unknown suspect on Saturday evening. It is alleged that the suspect and the victim were travelling in the same taxi. No further information on the incident was available.
