Home Archived Red Cross Opens Bank Account for Siamese Twins

By Maxwell Ng’ambi WINDHOEK The Namibian Red Cross Society (NRCS) has opened a bank account where well-wishers can desposit money towards the assistance of the Siamese twins born at Oshakati State Hospital eight days ago. In a press statement issued on Monday and signed by the NRCS Information Dissemination Officer, Morning-Star Rosario says they are deeply committed to supporting the needs of the Siamese twins and assured the Namibian public of its continued efforts in providing humanitarian support. “The NRCS appeals to the public to render material or financial assistance to this familiy. Donations can be forwarded to Bank Windhoek Tuyakula account 1140765513, branch code 481972. As part of the NRCS mandatory obligation to assist the most vulnerable in our society, the Namibian Red Cross will facilitate all donations, for immediate and long term-relief,” the statement reads in part. The NRCS has since extended its appreciation to the Oshiwambo Radio listeners for their trust in the organization and for their prompt and proactive response to the birth of the twins. “It is therefore with great pleasure that the Namibian Red Cross Society appeals for humanitarian assistance for the twins and their family during this time in their lives,” the missive further reads. The NRCS quotes Elizabeth Paulus (35), the mother of the twins, as saying : “I do not know what I will do. As my children grow older, they will need proper care in terms of food, clothing, etc.” Paulus is a Standard Eight graduate and comes from the Iiwiyongo village in the Oshana region, and has three other children. On September 15, the NRCS and the Ministry of Health and Social Services visited Paulus and her Siamese twins where they identified areas of need such as baby materials and financial support.
