The reggae band, Omidi D’Afrique, will be staging its first live gig this evening at 20h00 at Mu Afrika in Freedom-land.

“We have been doing studio recordings of our music over the past eight months, but now we are ready for any live music action,” said group leader, Faridread Haukongo.

According to him the group specializes in reggae and zouk music genres.
“We have been working hard on our soon-to-be released second album after the first one in 2005, ‘All we need is Love’, with the help of the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre,” he said.

The group was earlier this year invited to perform in Angola.

“Unfortunately we could not raise enough funding to travel to the Angolan town of Ongiva, but we are hard at work going on tour inside the country at the moment,” he said.

Tonight’s gig in Omunjwindi Street in Freedomland, costs N$15 per person.
