Windhoek
With proceedings in the MTC Namibia Premier League (NPL) coming to an end this weekend, the relegation dog fight that has been stirring up a lot of dust at the bottom of the log will be the centre of attention this weekend.
Mathematically speaking, a total of six clubs will be rumbling for survival in the clammy relegation zone mud, and should anyone of them fail to collect maximum points this weekend then relegation back to the first division will be certain. Tigers already won the league title last weekend.
The six endangered clubs are Flamingoes who are rock bottom, Citizens, Julinho Sporting, Young Chiefs, Rundu Chiefs and United Stars. From the six, only three teams will be relegated from the country’s topflight league.
Flamingoes are at the bottom of the log with 24 points, while Julinho is second from bottom with 26 points and United Stars is 3rd from bottom with 28 points. Young Chiefs (28 points), Citizens (29 points) and Rundu Chiefs (32 points) are 4th, 5th and 6th from bottom, in that order.
