Revivals seeks sponsorship to compete in Botswana

In a remarkable display of skill and teamwork, the Revivals Volleyball Club (RVC), one of Namibia’s oldest and most diverse community-based volleyball teams, recently made history by winning the inaugural MTC National Volleyball League in the women’s category.

They finished the season undefeated.

This triumph has earned the club the prestigious honour of representing Namibia at the upcoming CAVB Zone 6 Senior Club Championships, set to take place in Gaborone, Botswana from 5 to 15 December.

Founded as a non-profit organisation, RVC sustains itself through the hard work of its athletes, and the financial support of membership fees and competition winnings. Despite its financial challenges, particularly with many of its players still balancing their academic pursuits, the club has consistently made strides towards excellence, offering opportunities for young, talented athletes from diverse backgrounds.

The recent success in the MTC National Volleyball League is a testament to the club’s resilience and determination.

“This is a huge milestone for us,” said RVC chairperson Tuli Amakali.

“Not only is it a reflection of the hard work our players have put in, but it also highlights the strength of our community-based model, where young athletes from all walks of life come together to compete at the highest level,” she stated.

However, the journey ahead comes with significant financial challenges.  The costs associated with participating in the Zone 6 Championships, including transportation, accommodation and meals for players as well as technical staff are substantial. Many of the club’s players are still in school, and face financial constraints while juggling their academic and athletic commitments.

“We are reaching out to businesses, organisations and individuals who are passionate
about supporting youth development and sports excellence,” added the club’s spokesperson.

“Any level of support you can offer will make a huge difference in making this historic opportunity a reality for our players. Our team is excited to represent Namibia on the international stage. We want to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent our talented athletes from pursuing their dreams,” she said.

RVC has a long history of fostering young talent, and providing a platform for athletes to grow both on and off the court. Many of the club’s players have been involved in volleyball from a young age, with some making their debut in local leagues before progressing to national and regional levels. Representing Namibia at the CAVB Zone 6 Championships will not only elevate the club’s profile, but also inspire future generations of Namibian athletes to dream big.

“We are extremely grateful to all our past, present and future sponsors for their continued support,” the spokesperson said.

“Your contributions have made all the difference, and we are hopeful that the community will continue to come together to help these young athletes achieve their full potential,” she remarked.
