IF your ride has a dropped suspension, body kits, a funky spray job, killer sound system and doesn’t look out of the ordinary – then it’s time to enter your wheels in this coming Saturday’s Ricky’s Custom Car Show, sponsored by Ricky’s Custom Car Shop and Windhoek Draught.
The much anticipated ‘show and shine’ event is being staged for the fourth consecutive year, and will be held at the Doc Jubber Sports Field, where a huge turnout of ‘juice heads’ are expected, as well as a full on eye-catching exhibition of super ‘pimped’ rides on display.
Speaking to Ricky Hill owner of Ricky’s Custom Car Shop and organizer of the event, all customized cars and bikes are welcome to enter, and the best on show can win a prize.
Also a stunning VW Beetle restored by Ricky will be raffled off. Tickets are available at the shop, and will be on sale at the car show which starts at 8h00. The lucky raffle draw winner can take home this project car which just needs an engine fitted, then it’s good to go.
Mentioning that the organizers are expecting over 50 cars and bikes on the day, judging will be based on five different categories, namely; pimped cars, drag cars, ‘old schoolers’ , customized bikes, and the best sound system of the day.
The Sound Off is going to be big this year, and will also bring a huge turnout to the show. In addition various clubs will be representing their makes and models, namely the Honda Boys Namibia and the Opel Corsa Club, which were also present last year.
The must see car of the day according to Ricky is a Ford Cortina which took him and his team six months to build. This one of a kind stylized car will be revealed for the first time at the show, and for car enthusiasts, this one is something to look out for.
“We will also be doing a live car wrap demonstration to show that people don’t have to re-spray their cars to still look amazing ,” said Ricky. “And for some kiddy entertainment there will be remote control cars plus a competition to see who can throw a 22” rim the furthest.
“This is a day for the whole family, with jumping castles , refreshments galore, plus the best rides in town will be on show, so we expect to see a whole lot of faces coming out to this year’s event, “ concluded Ricky.
