Ricky’s Custom Carshop exhibits classics

It is every petrol head’s dream to own a classic beauty from decades long gone. However, many drivers only get to see pristine, ageless vehicles on television. That was until Ricky’s Custom Carshow took the stage.

Boys and their toys – pristine paint jobs, vintage rides and timeless show pieces – were exhibited in the capital last Saturday at the new side of Wernhil’s top floor parking area.

Ricky Hill, owner of Ricky’s Customs Carshop, who is also the founder and host of the increasingly popular event, said this year’s car show was bigger than anticipated.

This is because scores of visitors and exhibitors attended to revel and participate in the much-loved event.

The show was filled with activities, and showcased the niche domestic custom market that is alive and well.

This is a testament to the high quality of work being done by local customisers.

Speaking to Woema, Hill noted that the event was established for people to interact and socialise with local car heroes at the Windhoek car meet. The event also served as the ideal platform for car enthusiasts to interact and strengthen bonds with industry leaders.

He added that when one show ends, it is already time to start planning the next event.

When asked what car aficionados can expect, all he could say was: “It’s a surprise”.
