WINDHOEK – The Social Security Commission (SSC) of Namibia recently handed over an amount of N$ 10 000 to the MVA as part of the road safety campaign which will kick off soon as the festive season draws closer.
The Social Security Commission’s Head for Corporate Communications, Rino Muranda, said that the core business of the SSC was to protect the people of Namibia and especially the workers. “We are here to ensure that Namibians who endure hardship or unexpected costs are covered. We make sure their earnings are replaced should they be on maternity leave, sick leave or face death, disabilities, injuries and loss of employment,” he said.
He went on to say that car accidents in Namibia were on the increase and therefore also injured, disabled and sick people who might lose their job due to the nature of injuries. “While we will always make sure that these people receive all the help and financial assistance they are entitled to, we nevertheless urge all Namibians to drive safely and not to endanger their lives or that of fellow road users. All life is precious and we would like to see everyone travel to and from their destinations safely this festive season,” Muranda said.
